Norman Guertin

Since childhood in the 1960’s, Norman Guertin has been capturing some of life’s snapshots in time; he then incorporates those time images into many of his artistic compositions. His specialties are watercolor and oil painting; pastel being a close second—with egg-tempera, mixed media, ink, graphite, and photography falling into the mélange, as well. Having been adventurous and outdoorsy over the years has molded the artist into a specific genre—that of storyteller through his endeavors in painting. Within Guertin’s world of multiple interests, one artist can only juggle so much; and, for him, the intertwining of art and writing has helped him organize his accordingly. Web-site and blog management fall into my hands; Sarah Kathleen—the artist’s agent. My work helps simplify his tasks to only painting and writing—the way he needs it to be. This being said, Norman is left focusing on but three paintings per year—his writing, to boot. Within the blog portion of his web-site, readers not only get to enjoy perusing his written short stories, they may also directly associate some of them to a few of his paintings; two of which are illustrations in a historical fiction novel Norman has completed in both, his first language, French—as well as in his second, English. For the most part, Guertin markets original art. At times, he puts out small limited editions of detailed images of what he estimates to be his most worthy tasks—that is, high resolution giclée prints of archival and pigment-based inks on parchment-like paper. Small limited editions, as opposed to open editions, make such works of art more valuable—particularly once the final numbered giclée is sold.

Norman Guertin Depuis son enfance dans les années 1960, Norman Guertin vise à saisir des moments spéciaux de sa vie quotidienne pour ensuite y incorporer ces p’tits espaces de temps dans ses compositions artistiques. Il spécialise dans l’aquarelle et la peinture à l’huile; le pastel étant une seconde proche—avec la détrempe à l’œuf, les médias mixtes, l’encre, le graphite et la photographie tombant dans le mélange aussi. Étant que Norman était aventureux à travers les années, son genre comme artiste franco-ontarien s’est formé en raconteur, tout en utilisant son talent artistique pour atteindre cette fin. Dans un monde d’intérêts multiples, un artiste ne peut jongler qu’avec tant de choses. C’est alors que sa passion pour l’écriture s’est liée à celui de son art. La gestion de son site Web me tombe entre les mains; moi, l’agente de l’artiste en question. Cela simplifie ses tâches de peinture et d’écriture—la façon dont il en a besoin. Norman se concentre sur l’achèvement annuel de que trois tableaux; deux deviendront des illustrations dans son œuvre écrite en fiction historique—le manuscrit dont il est l’auteur-même.
